Asian-American Diaspora Mental Health

It’s important to work with a therapist who you feel can understand you. Sometimes, that means looking for and choosing a therapist with similar identities, who may have had similar life experiences, and/or has salient professional experience and training.

If you’re interested in addressing Asian-American diaspora mental health, perhaps you have concerns related to parental/family dynamics, including boundaries and communication, that are divergent from dominant, Eurocentric models. Your concerns may also include:

-immigration history
-intergenerational or racial trauma
-language
-acculturation/assimilation
-class migration
-inter-cultural relationships
-anti-Asian sentiment
-intersectionality
-US racial complexities
-systems of power and oppression.

I identify as an Asian-American therapist, and believe in the importance of inquiry and exploration of all these themes, and more in the therapeutic process.
